Broken Part Re-Created using 3D Printer

Material: extruded plastic

Created on: 3D Printer

This weeks cool cut was a re-creation of an important bearing on our Water Jet. The bearing, which is critically important to the Water Jet’s operation, broke and was not available for re-order right away. Instead of delaying cutting orders on the Water Jet with down time, we decided to try to create the bearing we needed on the 3D Printer.  Since the original part was metal, we used 100% infill to make the plastic re-creation extra strong. The results were great and our Water Jet is up and running again!  Think of how many times something important has broken that could have been resolved faster and/or in a less expensive manner with this type of technology!
